IB Faculty Awards Ceremony
2024.06.12The College of Information and Biotechnology held the “2023 College of IB Faculty Awards Ceremony” on Tuesday, June 12th 2024. This event marked the first Dean’s Commendation within UNIST, awarding six inaugural recipients based on their achievements in 2023.
The six award categories and recipients are as follows:
- New Challenger: Faculty members dedicated to challenging and original research. Recipient: Professor Kim Hyoil from the Department of Electrical Engineering.
- Research Lab Culture: For faculty members who have fostered healthy communication within their research labs. Recipient: Professor Lee Seungho from the Design Department.
- Research Lab Management: For faculty members who have excelled in research lab safety management. Recipient: Professor Kim Myungsoo from the Electrical Engineering.
- Outstanding Mentoring: For faculty members who have significantly contributed to student guidance and educational service. Recipient: Professor Kim Sungil from the Department of Industrial Engineering.
- Global Frontier: For faculty members who have contributed to promoting international exchange. Recipient: Professor James Andrew Self from the Design Department.
- FWCI (Field-Weighted Citation Impact): Recipient: Professor Kim Mijung from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
The ceremony was attended not only by the awardees but also by department heads, students from the awardees’ research labs, and other faculty members from the college who have received university-level outstanding faculty awards, making it a celebratory event.
Dean Sim Jae-young of the College of Information and Biotechnology expressed, “In addition to the awards given by the headquarters for education, research, academic, and industry-academia cooperation, we have identified six categories at the college level to encourage our professors. I am very pleased to have organized this event.” He also congratulated the achievements of the inaugural awardees. Congratulations to all the award winners.
